Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of nutrition coaching do you specialize in?

Q: What if I don't want to count my macros?

A: At Nutrition Scaled, we can scale any nutritional program to fit your goals and lifestyle. Counting macros is not the only way to obtain your health and fitness goals. We understand that every client has individual needs and we will provide you customized coaching that you are comfortable with and will get you results.

Q: How often should I weigh and measure myself?

A: For online clients, the weekly check-in process requires clients to weigh and measure once per week, the morning of check-in. Some clients prefer to do measurements daily, however please keep in mind that it is normal for your weight to fluctuate during the week.

Q: What is the Poliquin® BioSignature Hormonal Assessment?

A: Poliquin® BioSignature Modulation is a method based on the correlation between body fat distribution and possible hormonal imbalances. Hormonal imbalances are often the culprit of stubborn body fat storage and other health concerns such as poor sleep, low energy, impaired cognitive function, and more. Poliquin® BioSignature Modulation focuses on addressing these imbalances to improve body composition and well-being. Through specific body fat measurements and client assessment, your coach can recommend an individualized program of nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle modifications to lose stubborn body fat and achieve wellness at a faster rate.

Q: Can your program accommodate gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, etc.?

A: Yes. Our programs are flexible and can accommodate any dietary needs and restrictions you may have.

Q: Does quality of calories matter?

A: Absolutely! At Nutrition Scaled, we think that quality is just as important as quantity. Just because you can fit a donut into your macros doesn’t mean you should. Low quality, highly processed foods will cause increased inflammation which can lead to fibrosis, tissue damage, joint pain, and even chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Eating a diet composed of whole, unprocessed foods will lead to faster results and a healthier life.

Q: What is reverse dieting?

A: Reverse dieting is basically going from where you are calorically, to where you should be, based on your goals, weight, body fat percentage, and a whole host of other factors. If you are consuming too many or too little calories to reach your goal, you will need to slowly make changes to get you there. Dramatically making changes to your diet can sometimes cause even more problems like weight-gain or slower progress.

Q: What is nutrient timing?

A: Nutrient timing refers to the distribution of your macros throughout the day. Manipulating your meals to ensure you are getting the right nutrients (protein, carbs and fat) at the right time (breakfast, pre/post-workout, last meal) will help promote recovery, fat loss, and muscle building.

Q: How often should I weigh and measure myself?

A: Our weekly check-in process requires clients to weigh and measure once per week, the morning of check-in. Some clients prefer to do measurements daily, however please keep in mind that it is normal for your weight to fluctuate in the course of a week.

Q: Do I need to track body fat percentage? How can I get that taken?

A: Body fat measurements are not required, however can be helpful in tracking progress. If you are interested in our “health and wellness program”, knowing your body fat percentage is not necessary. For people interested in our “athletic performance and body composition” program having your body fat percentage measure is highly preferred.
